Engr. Kofoworola Abimbola Popoola was born over sixty years ago in Erusu-Akoko, Ondo State. He attended the famous Victory College, Ikare for his Secondary Education between 1966 and 1970. He has over 35 years working experience in Civil/Structural Engineering ,Geotechnical Engineering and Construction. He started his Engineering Career as a Soil Technician at Sol-Fond Ltd, Ikeja in 1976, after finishing his National Diploma from Yaba College of Technology with second best results in his class .

He graduated with HND in Civil Engineering as the best Civil Engineering Student from the Yaba College of Technology in 1979 having won four of the available six prizes. He did his NYSC at Kaduna State Water Board where he was actively involved in Geotechnical Investigations for Dams, Weirs, Intake Structures and Construction of Service Reservoirs e.t.c.

After his NYSC in 1980, he was appointed Geotechnical/Civil Engineer by Earth Engineering Services & Designs Ltd, Ikeja. At Earth Engineering Services & Designs Ltd, he was actively involved in Subsoil and Site Investigations for Civil Engineering works in some Projects such as Bridges, Roads, Industrial Buildings, Water Schemes, Dams, Construction of Water Boreholes, Road Material Surveys and Laboratory Testing of Soils and Construction Materials.

In 1982, he left the company for the University of Lagos and by 1984, Engr. Kofo Popoola took a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and in 1986, he completed his Masters Degree in Building Technology at the same University with emphasis on Construction Principles and Management. After his Postgraduate degree in 1986, Engr. Kofo A. Popoola worked with the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro as a Lecturer from 1986 to 1988. In June 1988, he joined the services of Total Nigeria Plc, a French Oil Company as a Project Civil Engineer. His role included Planning, Design and Supervision of Engineering Projects of the Company. He was reporting directly to the Engineering Manager of the French Oil Company.

By dint of hard work, he rose to the position of Engineering Services Manager in 1994 and was directly in charge of the construction of TOTAL HOUSE at Engineering Close, VI. Later he was appointed the Pioneer Procurement Manager in January 1997, the position he held until his retirement in December 31st 2004. Engr. Kofo A. Popoola has attended many Engineering and management courses locally and overseas as part of the Continuous Mandatory Training for Development of Engineers.

After retirement from Total Nigeria Plc in 2004, Engr.Kofo Popoola joined the services of Hephzibah Engineering Limited as a Project Director. He was actively involved in major Civil Engineering/Building Projects that span across Roads, Highways, Telecommunications, Bridges and Housing between January 2005 and May 2009

By 2009, he joined the Department of Building , University of Lagos as a Lecturer and he is still there imparting the students with his wealth of technical and management experience till date.

He has lectured at Yaba College of Technology, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Lagos State Polytechnic and FUTA ( PGD) programme.

He is the immediate Past Chief Examiner ( Civil ) for Lagos Area of NSE having served as an Examiner for over ten years and successfully handed over to Engr .Dr Tunde Olatunji this year.
